Mantras can help us break through our frustrations, anxieties, confusions, isolation and bring us into a semblance of internal quietude. Let's break down the word "remembering." Re-membering. Re-connecting. We are putting "it" all back together. Dismembering/disconnecting is the state of forgetfulness. Mantra helps us remember what it is that we forgot. Mantras help us to breathe through the forgetfulness and bring us into the state of "re-mind."
Mantra is a positive word or words to be used with sacred intention. Prayer. Meditation. Yoga. We surrender into these states more readily with the use of Mantra. Historically, the guru gave the Mantra as part of initiation to a lineage. Repetitive behavior is soothing to the brain and nervous system. This is also true for repetitive speech. Because Mantra is a sound, syllable, word, or a group of words that are repeated to bring about a spiritual transformation, we can soothe ourselves while remaining in stillness; achieving a more deep sense of remembering who we are and why we are here. Life.
My mantra helps me quickly connect to that space that is quieter and calmer, more centered. Paired with my breathing, it helps me in emotionally difficult times
